Cleaning Your Couch

Cleaning Your Couch

Upholstery tags come with a specific cleaning code.  This code will indicate how you should clean your couch.

S: The S code stands for solvent. Meaning that you should clean your couch using only a dry solvent with hydrocarbon based compounds. DO NOT USE WATER on S codes.

To clean your S Couch: blot soiled areas of the couch with the solvent. Follow the (solvent) manufacture guide. Some solvents require heating, others do not. Agitate the areas with an upholstrey brush and then blot the solvent back off with a clean towel. Finish by vacuuming the couch!
Recommended S type cleaners: Clue Coral Upholstery Cleaner, Forcefield Dry Cleaning Fluid for Fine Fabrics, Home Depot or Lowe’s Brand dry solvent.

W: The W code stands for wet/water cleaning. This means that you should only use water based solvent to clean your couch.

To clean your W Couch: vacuum it thoroughly first. Spray your cleaner onto the area you wish to remove stains, dirt, or oil.  Agitate the area with a furniture brush and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Blot dry or use a water extraction machine if you have one.
Recommended W type cleaners: Bissel Fabric and Upholstery Shampoo, Chemical Guys Carpet and Upholstery Stain Extractor, Resolve Stain Remover and Upholstery Cleaner, Woolite Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner.

WS: The WS code stands for water based and solvent cleaning. These couches can be cleaned with any upholstery cleaner!

To clean you WS Couch: Vacuum thoroughly first, and then follow the manufacturers guide on the upholstery cleaner of your choice.

X:The X code stand for DO NOT CLEAN! The fabric that is used for these couches cannot become wet or have any type of solvent on them.  However, you CAN vacuum them.
